“Knowledge Management is a series of structured processes and practices that help to augment the intellectual capital of an organization by providing the means to capture knowledge, store it and share it with others” Knowledge Management involves collection, analysis, synthesis and dissemination of information on key issues, success stories, innovations and best practices.
There are three types of knowledge
1. Static (tacit/explicit),
2. Instructional & learning and
3. Dynamic knowledge that is hosted in the digital library as knowledge products. Tacit and explicit knowledge is collected, processed, documented and published as knowledge products for dissemination.
The major challenge is to listen, capture and document the tacit knowledge and the Agency /consultants need to be prepared to capture the supply side. Instructional, learning and dynamic knowledge is comparatively easier as it is demand driven. Documenting tacit knowledge requires a protocol and guided interview instrument to drive the discussion.
Knowledge products can be listed as:
1. Policy guidelines
2. Reports
3. Learning notes
4. Best practice documents and
5. Videos in thematic areas like IB, CB, Livelihoods, M&E, Social Inclusion and Financial Inclusion
